Domestic Workers Course

There are 8 different domestic workers courses.  Each course comprises of 4 sessions and is a complete course in itself. These courses have been running for a long time, and have just been refreshed and updated with new recipes to fit into our modern lifestyles and health needs, incorporating many more salads and vegetables, and slightly less baking. The content of each lesson has also been slightly increased to give a more rounded and usable lesson for the students to cook  the following week at their place of work.

The courses are all on the same level, which enables domestic workers to start on any course. We go through the basics at each course in order to create good habits but more recipes are learnt and their confidence grows.

The courses are put together to provide for the needs of the average family.

Courses 1 – 4 and 6 - 8 contain family type meals, some simple puddings and baked items, a soup or two and a vegetarian meal, along with side salads and vegetables to accompany the meals

Course 5 is slightly different and contains roasting, curries, and some recipes useful for entertaining.

The sessions take place on Tuesday mornings from 8.30am – 11.00am

Each participant receives the recipes weekly as well as a certificate at the end of each course.

The cooking is done as a group with guidance, tips and good basic cooking rules given.

There is a tea and coffee break at a convenient time during the lesson.

The food is eaten at the end of the lesson in order for the domestic worker to taste the food that has been cooked.

Good presentation is shown and encouraged.

During the course, education is given in hygiene, time management as well as how to put a balanced meal together, The baking and pudding making, provides education in measuring, weighing and general baking skills.

We encourage our students to try and cook the dishes they have learnt that week again at home, and they are welcome to phone us anytime if they need help.
